Chris Dockins is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (Level II) with a deep commitment to healing that honors both the spiritual and neurobiological dimensions of human experience. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Chris brings over two decades of experience walking alongside individuals, couples, adolescents, and children through seasons of suffering, growth, and transformation. His work is especially informed by his time at the Denton County Child Advocacy Center, where he developed a particular heart for survivors of sexual abuse trauma. His clinical approach is shaped by the conviction that lasting change occurs when both the heart and the nervous system are engaged with truth, safety, and compassion.
Rooted in a biblical worldview, Chris believes that counseling must begin with the heart—because that is where God begins (Psalm 51:17; 1 Samuel 16:7). Scripture teaches that our beliefs, desires, and actions flow from the heart (Luke 6:45; Romans 10:10), and that healing involves not only understanding our story but aligning it with God’s redemptive purposes. Chris sees counseling as a form of discipleship, helping clients navigate the complexities of life while remaining anchored in their identity and calling as Christ’s ambassadors (Matthew 28:19–20).
At the same time, Chris integrates principles from Interpersonal Neurobiology to support whole-person healing. He recognizes that trauma and relational wounds shape the brain and body in ways that influence emotional regulation, attachment, and resilience. By attending to both spiritual truth and neurobiological safety, Chris helps clients rewire patterns of fear, shame, and disconnection—creating space for renewed trust, integration, and joy.
Whether mentoring emerging counselors, guiding families through transitions, or crafting trauma-informed policies, Chris brings a rare blend of theological depth, clinical insight, and relational wisdom. His work reflects a deep belief: that healing is possible, and that every person is created with dignity, purpose, and the capacity to glorify God—even in the midst of suffering.
